Juneau Karate Academy teaches traditional Japanese Karate Do in a family oriented manner for beginners and advanced practitioners of all ages in partnership with Pavitt Health and Fitness. We teach a very traditional and formal form of Shito-Ryu Karate (one of the four major styles of Japanese karate); we trace our roots back to the style’s founder Soke Kenwa Mabuni.
Traditional Karate Do offers what no other activity can; the improvement of one’s whole self and the opportunity to improve both physically and mentally. Men, women and children can take advantage of our programs. Each student, regardless of age or ability, progresses at their own pace; emphasis is always placed on personal development.
Our classes stress the improving of the individual's character by engaging students to strive for excellence in their daily lives. Our younger students are taught to use politeness and discipline at school and at home through the improvement of their Good Manners, Respect, and Self Discipline.
